Stinky, rotten and amazing

I would like to direct your attention to a series of "experiments" that I think every self-respecting Internet user should be forced to study.

• The Stinky Meat Projects
• The Stinky Feet Project
• The Fat Project**

Please, please read them. They are gross and will make your stomach turn, but they are absolute gems.

These projects come from the original TheSpark.com, which is now sparknotes.com, the rennovated-by-Barnes and Noble version. I think it's pretty boring, even though sparknotes saved me a few times in college. But come on, I need more smelly meat in my life.

The stinky feet project explores one man's journey to get Athlete's Foot. He rubs his bare feet on the shower at the gym and proceeds to contain his feet in plastic bags. Until he gets the fungus. I love it.

The stinky meet project is even better. This guys puts a bunch of meat on a plate and puts it in him neighbor's yard. Then he takes daily photos to document the stages of rot and stench.

You can't beat this. I mean seriously, I might have to stop this blog and start rotting weird meat products for the pleasure of Internet creeps like myself.

So tell me, am I the only one absolutely FASCINATED by this? It's absolutely terrific. Stunning.

**This isn't at thespark.com, like i said, even though the photo says it is. basically, i wanted a photo, but didn't want to steal one. this photo was on there though, for people to use to link, but the thing's outdated. whatever.

I'm going to contact the stinkymeat dude and ask for permission to post some meat pics. They'll be decent pre-rotting, I promise!

I can't make this up. I just had the best conversation EVER.

There is this web site called Omegle where all you do is log on to chat with a stranger. It's similar to a traditional chat room, but this is a one-on-one chat with no screen names or identifying information.


I thought "Oh, this is going to be so neat! People probably share intellectual thoughts or deep dark secrets they can't tell other people!" and eagerly logged on.

Ok, let's get serious for a second here...

I know. I just came back to this blog and said I was going to keep up with the funny stuff, and now I'm about to post something totally serious.

Sorry, but I have to, and not just for shameless self-promotion. My former journalism professor, Heather Starr Fielder, runs a blog/site called PittsburghMom.com, and she asked me to write a story for her.

The story is about umbilical cord blood donation and includes a story about a boy whose life was saved by cord blood. Yes, I wrote the story, but that's not entirely why I'm posting this. I think the story should be read by more people (not that pghmom doesn't get a lot of traffic, but you know what I mean) so I thought I'd post it here and see what happens.
